The Bulalo Effect

This bulalo represents a sacred time of serenity.

I always tend to associate this food to those moments when there’s nothing else on my mind except to eat what’s inside it. It’s like, whenever this thing is in front of me, I have nothing to worry about. No problems at work, no personal problems, nothing. It’s my feel-good food. My own personal peace offering.

Back in college, we used to eat bulalo (or sometimes, Soup #5) whenever the exam periods are over. It’s a kind of a celebration – it’s like, “Hey, let’s go eat something super unhealthy YET insanely delicious!” It’s not everyday that we get to eat bulalo, coz we’re aware that it’s not really a good idea to make it a habit. But then, during those rare times when we DO eat bulalo, we make sure that we aint gonna stop until our blood pressure increases by at least 75%.

And then we wait for the next pig-out time.

I don’t understand why I rarely eat bulalo nowadays. I mean, now that I earn my own money, there’s no reason why I couldn’t eat bulalo whenever the hell I want to. But it seems that I just don’t have the right “moment” to do it, coz like I said, it represents serenity. And in this time of daily hassles, I guess my bulalo would just have to wait a little longer.
